Roberts Group International (RGI) has unveiled new AI-driven sorting technology at its Halebank facility as part of its strategy to enhance textile circularity. This initiative aims to improve material identification and support fiber-to-fiber recycling both in the UK and globally.

The AI platform utilizes advanced recognition technology to analyze textiles for material composition and characteristics, optimizing sorting decisions for reuse and recycling opportunities. The technology is designed to accommodate future advancements such as Digital Product Passports and RFID product identification, aimed at increasing traceability in the circular economy. RGI is currently in the pilot phase and is inviting brands and retailers to collaborate on refining the sorting process, which may significantly impact sustainability practices in the sector.
