MoU Signed for Indian Navy Gallery at National Maritime Heritage Complex in Gujarat
An MoU was signed between the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, and Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation for a gallery at the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Gujarat. This initiative aims to enhance public understanding of India's maritime heritage from ancient to modern times.
A Memorandum of Understanding was finalized on July 3, involving the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, and Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Ltd. The agreement focuses on the development of a gallery themed 'Evolution of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard' at the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Lothal, Gujarat.
The NMHC, backed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, will feature a maritime museum, theme parks, and multiple galleries showcasing India's maritime history. The project's foundation stone was laid in March 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative could lead to increased tourism and education related to maritime history.
