M&P and NG Energy Discover New Gas Reservoir at Hechicero-1X Well in Colombia
M&P and NG Energy have identified a significant gas reservoir at the Hechicero-1X well in Colombia's Sinu-9 block. The discovery has the potential to enhance gas production and transportation capacities in the region.

Etablissements Maurel & Prom (M&P) and NG Energy International (NGE) have discovered a natural gas reservoir at the Hechicero-1X well, reaching a depth of 8,500ft. The well recorded net pay of 103ft, with preliminary tests yielding 26.4 million cubic feet per day at a pressure of 1,800 psi.
Electric log analysis revealed additional gas accumulations in the CDO and Porquero formations with net pays of 288ft and 149ft, respectively. M&P operates the Sinu-9 block with a 61% stake, while NGE holds 39%.
An 18km pipeline loop to increase capacity to 40mcf/d is under construction by INFRAES, with potential to reach 90mcf/d by late 2026, contingent on agreements. Drilling at the María Conchita project is ongoing, with the Aruchara-5 well targeting a depth of 9,100ft to explore the Jimol formation.
