MSA Global Becomes First Indian Firm to Manufacture All-Metal Barrels for Grad BM-21 System
MSA Global Technology has become the first Indian firm to produce all-metal barrels for the Grad BM-21 multiple rocket launcher system, advancing India's defense self-reliance and indigenisation efforts. The Indian Army successfully completed Phase-1 trials, validating the barrels' performance, with Phase-2 trials set to test additional barrels for a full firing configuration. This development marks a significant step towards reducing dependence on foreign imports for critical military components.

MSA Global Technology has become the first company in India to manufacture all-metal barrels for the Grad BM-21 multiple rocket launcher system. This milestone supports India's defense manufacturing self-reliance and indigenisation efforts.
The Indian Army successfully conducted Phase-1 trials with 15 rockets fired from the new barrels, validating their performance. Phase-2 trials will involve five additional barrels for a full 6-barrel firing configuration.
This development eliminates reliance on foreign imports for the BM-21 system's key component, which has been in service since the Soviet era. The project, initiated in 2018, involved collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science and NABL-accredited laboratories for advanced metallurgy research.
MSA Global, established in 2015-2016, focuses on precision manufacturing for defense. The success of Phase-2 trials could lead to larger-scale production and integration into active units, enhancing the Indian Army's operational capabilities.
