MSC Euribia Completes Maiden Voyage through Suez Canal After Delay
The MSC Euribia, a major cruise ship, has successfully transited the Suez Canal, following a reroute due to delays at the Strait of Hormuz. This event underscores the canal's significance as a vital maritime corridor linking Europe and Asia.

The MSC Euribia, measuring 331 meters in length and 51.9 meters in width, successfully transited the Suez Canal as part of a southbound convoy, following delays at the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel, powered by liquefied natural gas, was sailing from the United Arab Emirates to Malta when it opted to route through the Red Sea rather than circumnavigate the Cape of Good Hope.
The transit also included the cruise ship Celestyal Journey, which is 219 meters long. On the same day, a total of 45 vessels transited the canal, with a combined net tonnage of approximately 1.7 million tons.
The Suez Canal Authority's ongoing infrastructure projects, including widening efforts, enhance navigational safety and maintain the canal’s status as a key shipping route. The canal's capacity to accommodate large vessels reflects its strategic importance amid shifting global shipping dynamics.
