MSMEs Hesitant to Transition from LPG to Piped Natural Gas
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) express concerns over transitioning to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) from LPG. Key issues include inconsistent supply and insufficient infrastructure in various regions, impacting operational viability.

MSMEs in the manufacturing sector are expressing reluctance to switch from commercial LPG cylinders to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). With 1.65 crore registered MSMEs, many have operated with PNG for decades, yet issues such as a 20% to 50% reduction in supply due to external conflicts raise concerns about reliability.
Industry leaders highlight a lack of infrastructure, particularly in regions like NCR and Tamil Nadu, as a significant barrier. Additionally, the necessity for technical adjustments and financial investments for equipment modifications poses further challenges. The absence of comprehensive PNG infrastructure may hinder the potential transition, affecting MSME operational efficiency and safety standards.
