Municipalities in Quebec Reject TES Canada's Mauricie Wind Farm Project
Mayors from nine municipalities in Quebec oppose TES Canada's proposed installation of 132 wind turbines for hydrogen production. A letter from 64 elected officials expresses definitive rejection, citing previous municipal referendums and a survey showing 68% opposition among residents. Only Saint-Narcisse's mayor remains neutral pending local consultation. TES Canada, aiming to produce 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen, claims to have favorable public support but faces accusations of disregarding democratic processes.

Nine municipalities in Quebec have formally opposed TES Canada's Mauricie wind farm project, which includes 132 planned wind turbines. A letter from 64 elected officials from the MRCs of Mékinac and Des Chenaux indicates a definitive rejection of the project, reflecting the outcomes of recent referendums and a survey where 68% of residents opposed the turbines.
Only Saint-Narcisse has not opposed the project, pending local consultations. TES Canada aims to generate green hydrogen and claims there is favorable public support, despite allegations of interference in democratic processes. The company plans to generate 800 MW of wind energy and 200 MW of solar energy, with potential public hearings by the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE) expected this year.
