MV Global Fuji Docks in Mombasa, Paving Way for Green Shipping
The MV Global Fuji, an LNG-powered vessel, has docked at Mombasa, enhancing Kenya's green maritime initiatives. This event signifies a trend towards sustainable shipping, with the vessel discharging 579 vehicles and aligning with global emission reduction goals.

The MV Global Fuji has made its first call at the Port of Mombasa, discharging 579 motor vehicles. This marks the second LNG-powered vessel to dock at the port, reinforcing Kenya's commitment to sustainable shipping practices through its Green Port Policy.
The 200-meter vessel operates mainly on LNG, utilizing around five percent diesel for initial operations. Experts highlight that LNG propulsion significantly reduces harmful emissions compared to conventional fuels, making it a pivotal solution as the maritime industry seeks to achieve net-zero targets. However, the limited refueling infrastructure poses challenges to broader adoption.
