Namibia Selected for Feasibility Study on Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production
Namibia will participate in a six-month feasibility study funded by €400 million from Switzerland to assess its capacity for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. The study aims to evaluate the country's policy frameworks, feedstock availability, and infrastructure to establish a roadmap for a domestic SAF industry.

Namibia has been chosen to undergo a six-month feasibility study focused on its readiness to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), funded by a €400 million initiative from Switzerland. The assessment will cover policy frameworks, feedstock availability, infrastructure, and investment potential to create a roadmap for developing a local SAF industry.
This initiative aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organisation's ACT-SAF initiative and reflects Namibia’s commitment to green industrialisation, particularly through its Green Hydrogen Programme. The Namibia Airports Company is enhancing infrastructure for future sustainable fuel supply chains, as stakeholders like West Air Aviation and FlyNamibia show readiness to support this transition. The study's outcomes will clarify Namibia's potential as a competitive SAF producer amid increasing global demand for low-carbon aviation solutions.
