LT Metal and Impact Coatings Collaborate on PEM Electrolyzer Technology
LT Metal and Impact Coatings have partnered to enhance PEM electrolyzers with innovative iridium oxide-coated electrodes. This collaboration aims to improve durability and reduce costs in hydrogen production technologies.

LT Metal and Impact Coatings have entered a partnership to develop catalytic iridium oxide-coated porous transport layers for PEM electrolyzers, aiming for enhanced durability and cost-efficiency. The collaboration, formalized by a Letter of Intent signed in June 2026, allows both companies to pursue large-scale commercialization while maintaining independent operations.
Utilizing PVD technology on titanium PTLs, the resulting electrodes promise performance improvements and a significant reduction in iridium usage. This initiative is positioned to strengthen LT Metal's growth in the hydrogen economy and enhance its role within the global hydrogen value chain.
