Nanni Unveils Methanol Dual-Fuel Generator Engine with ScandiNAOS
Nanni introduces a methanol dual-fuel generator engine based on John Deere technology, in collaboration with ScandiNAOS AB. This innovation aims to reduce emissions and fuel consumption in marine applications, aligning with Nanni's goal of lower-emission propulsion systems.

Nanni has developed a dual-fuel generator engine capable of operating on a blend of approximately 30% diesel and 70% methanol. This project, in partnership with ScandiNAOS AB, is part of Nanni's broader efforts toward lower-emission propulsion technologies.
The new engine can automatically switch to diesel if the methanol supply is depleted, ensuring continuous operation. Testing under IACS standards confirmed that the engine could seamlessly transition between fuel modes, maintaining full power output.
Emissions reductions were significant, with carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons dropping by 95-99%, and nitrogen oxides by 65%. Nanni, established in 1952, manufactures marine engines and generator sets in France and Italy.
