The National Electric Union (UNE) is installing 5,000 2 kW photovoltaic systems donated by China to promote energy security amid an energy crisis. A total of 2,671 systems will be placed in vital centers, including maternity homes and nursing homes, while 2,329 will go to isolated homes lacking reliable electricity.
These systems are designed to operate independently of the grid, ensuring essential services can continue during outages. The initiative includes meticulous planning with local transport agencies. Additionally, UNE is involved in other renewable projects, such as a Canadian-funded installation of 502 systems in Holguín province.
