National Research Council of Canada Acquires Bombardier Global 6500 Aircraft for Defense R&D
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has acquired a Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft to enhance its research and development capabilities for defense and dual-use sectors. The aircraft will be integrated into the NRC's Aerospace Research Centre fleet, supporting advanced technology demonstrations for the Department of National Defence. This acquisition complements a previous order by the Government of Canada for six Global 6500 aircraft aimed at various critical missions.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has acquired a Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft to support advanced research and development in the defense sector. Announced on March 9, 2026, in Ottawa, the aircraft will be part of the NRC's Aerospace Research Centre fleet, enabling technology demonstrations for the Department of National Defence.
The NRC's acquisition aligns with the Government of Canada's earlier order of six Global 6500 aircraft for global utility flights and critical missions, including aeromedical evacuations. The aircraft will be modified in Canada to enhance its mission-specific capabilities and draws on contributions from over 65 Canadian suppliers.
