Naval Base Kitsap Child Development Centers Set for Early Completion, Expanding Military Family Support
The Bangor Child Development Center (CDC) at Naval Base Kitsap is set to open ahead of schedule in May, adding 214 childcare spaces. This expansion addresses the urgent need for affordable childcare for military families, aligning with the Navy's broader initiative to enhance support for service members and their dependents.

The Bangor Child Development Center (CDC) at Naval Base Kitsap is projected to finish construction in May, nearly doubling its capacity. This facility adds 214 spaces for military personnel's children, responding to significant demand for childcare.
Alongside this, the Navy is expanding its Child and Youth Programs (CYP) with over 900 new childcare spaces planned through 2028, including four major construction projects at various bases. The Navy also converted a former chapel into CDC spaces, providing an additional 154 slots. These initiatives reflect a commitment to enhancing fleet readiness through quality childcare, supported by the Early Learning Matters curriculum set for implementation by FY26.
