Navy Adjusts Rollout of Risk Management Information System After Government Shutdown Delays
The Navy is implementing its Risk Management Information system (RMI) in phases due to delays caused by a government shutdown. Key milestones begin January 1 and continue through May. RMI will replace several legacy safety reporting systems, enhancing visibility and data transparency for commanders and safety analysts. Initial modules activated include investigations and hazard abatement, with further modules scheduled for transition in March and May. The modernization is part of the Navy's broader digital transformation effort.

The Navy is adjusting the rollout of the Risk Management Information system (RMI) due to delays from a 42-day government shutdown. The phased implementation starts with key milestones from January 1 to May.
RMI will replace outdated safety and mishap reporting systems, consolidating data into a centralized platform for improved risk management. Initial modules, such as investigations and inspections, are operational.
A second group of data-dependent modules will transition on March 1, with advanced tools expected by May 1. Commands are to cease inputting new data into legacy systems after each rollout phase, unless exceptions are made. This initiative is part of the Navy's digital transformation strategy.
