Navy Constructs Housing for 62 Naval Personnel to Alleviate Accommodation Crisis in Bonny

DEFENSE

The Eastern Naval Command has constructed new housing for 62 senior Naval Ratings in Bonny, Rivers State, addressing a significant accommodation crisis. The new facilities were commissioned on January 14, 2026, by Rear Admiral Chidozie Donald Okehie.

The project, initiated on August 22, 2025, and completed on December 30, 2025, was led by Commodore Emmanuel Fingesi, the Commanding Officer of the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Bonny. The accommodation aims to resolve the shortage faced by ratings stationed on the island, which is critical for their operational roles, particularly in security and technical mentorship. The construction reflects the Navy's commitment to improving welfare and infrastructure for its personnel.
