Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Marks 20 Years of Service and Adaptability
The Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) was established on January 13, 2006, to unify various expeditionary forces under a single command. Over the past 20 years, NECC has evolved to meet global security challenges, participating in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and responding to humanitarian crises such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake and Japan's 2011 tsunami.
NECC's units, including the Seabees and Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, have played crucial roles in combat, infrastructure building, and disaster response. In 2020, the Maritime Expeditionary Security Force emerged from the Riverine Forces to enhance maritime security. NECC now oversees 20,000 active-duty and reserve personnel, executing a range of combat and support missions while maintaining readiness and adapting to modern warfare demands.
