NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Targets Middle Eastern Investments for European League

DEFENSE

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver indicated that sovereign wealth funds from Middle Eastern countries could play a significant role in a new European basketball league, potentially leading to changes in investment rules for the NBA. Currently, these funds are restricted to owning no more than 20% of any NBA team.

Silver noted that the NBA has developed ties with Middle Eastern investors through exhibition games and recent investments from the Qatari Investment Authority in Monumental Sports. The new league will feature anchor teams in major European cities. Additionally, Air Force men's basketball coach Joe Scott was suspended pending an investigation into cadet-athlete treatment, and Manchester United achieved a 2-0 victory over Manchester City under interim coach Michael Carrick.
