The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has approved a budget for the financial year 2026-27 amounting to Rs 5,953.07 crore, with total expenditure projected at Rs 5,810.02 crore, maintaining a net surplus of Rs 143.05 crore. Key highlights include a focus on capital expenditure of Rs 943.84 crore, no increase in property tax rates, and initiatives for hydrogen and electricity generation from a sewage treatment plant.

The budget supports various projects such as mechanised sanitation, solar energy expansion, and the introduction of a 'Night Bazaar'. The NDMC aims to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2028, enhance public safety with 2,000 additional CCTV cameras, and invest in education with Rs 245.93 crore allocated for school upgrades. The budget also emphasizes environmental sustainability and infrastructure improvements, including water supply and sewerage systems.
