Nepal Establishes Cyber Cells to Monitor Social Media for Election Integrity
Nepal has established special cyber cells under the Integrated Election Security Plan-2025 to monitor social media during the election period, involving representatives from various security agencies. The initiative aims to enforce compliance with the Election Code of Conduct and the Electronic Transaction Act, addressing concerns about AI's influence on voter perception. District-level cyber cells have been set up by Nepal Police to enhance oversight and ensure election integrity.

Nepal has formed a special cell under the Integrated Election Security Plan-2025 to monitor social media, including representatives from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Intelligence Department. District-level cyber cells have been established by Nepal Police for the election period, and the Cyber Bureau has been empowered to act against violations of the Election Code of Conduct and the Electronic Transaction Act, amid concerns of AI's impact on voter perception.
