Nepal's Electricity Generation Capacity Hits 4,200 MW with Recent Additions
Nepal's electricity generation capacity has reached 4,200 MW, bolstered by 532 MW of new capacity in the past year. This growth includes contributions from 23 projects, primarily hydropower, and supports the country's goal of increasing renewable energy sources.

As of mid-April, Nepal's total electricity generation capacity stands at 4,200 MW, with 532 MW added in the fiscal year 2082 BS. The Nepal Electricity Authority reported that 23 projects were commissioned, contributing 499.17 MW from hydropower and 33 MW from solar energy installations.
Significant projects include the 102 MW Madhya Bhotekoshi and other hydropower plants. Challenges remain, such as delays in transmission line upgrades and grid stability concerns. Nepal aims for 15,000 MW by 2030, emphasizing a diverse energy mix and a target of 15% from renewable sources.
