Nepra Holds Electricity Discos Accountable for Safety Failures in 2024-25 Review
Nepra, Pakistan's power sector regulator, has raised significant safety concerns in its 2024-25 Health, Safety and Environment performance review, emphasizing that executives will be held personally accountable for accidents stemming from negligence. The assessment highlighted Chashma Nuclear Power Station as a top performer, while Engro Fertilizers and PEDO's Daral Khwar Hydropower Plant were noted as poor performers. K-Electric was commended for its high safety standards, contrasting with other utilities like Mepco, Gepco, and Fesco.

Nepra, Pakistan's power sector regulator, has expressed serious concerns about safety in the electricity sector in its 2024-25 Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance review. The regulator indicated that executives will be held personally accountable for accidents due to negligence and weak systems.
The assessment covered various power plants operated by entities such as Wapda, PEDO, and Punjab Power Development Company. Chashma Nuclear Power Station received the highest rating, followed by Karachi Nuclear Power Station.
