The Dutch government is evaluating the deployment of the Zr.Ms. Evertsen frigate to the eastern Mediterranean to support the French Charles de Gaulle carrier strike group amid rising regional tensions.

The request for assistance came on March 3, and the frigate began its journey towards the Mediterranean while the Dutch cabinet reviews the situation. The Zr.Ms. Evertsen, part of the De Zeven Provinciën-class, has capabilities for air defense and command functions, including long-range radar and missile systems. It has a crew capacity of about 207 and has been involved in various international naval operations since entering service in 2005.
