A new $16 million indoor small arms range is being constructed at Pease Air National Guard Base, enhancing training for the 157th Air Refueling Wing. Approved in the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, the facility will replace a 1950s outdoor range.
The new range will double the training capacity from seven to 14 lanes, allowing year-round instruction and enabling low-light qualifications. It will address infrastructure issues such as a degrading backstop and limited classroom space, while incorporating advanced ventilation and electronic target systems for improved safety. Approximately 1,100 Airmen will benefit from these upgrades.
