New Brunswick Plans 150-Megawatt Solar Farm, Boosting Clean Energy Capacity
The proposed Cookville Solar Project in New Brunswick aims to generate 150 megawatts, significantly enhancing regional clean energy supply. This initiative marks a pivotal development in North America's renewable energy landscape.

The Cookville Solar Project in New Brunswick, if approved, will generate 150 megawatts of power, sufficient for approximately 12,500 homes. Covering about 400 hectares north of Sackville, the project is a joint venture between the North Shore Mi'kmaq Tribal Council and BNRG Renewables from Ireland and is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete, with operations anticipated to start by 2029.
Utilizing 340,000 solar panels and necessary infrastructure, it would be one of Canada's largest solar installations. The project highlights the potential for solar energy to coexist with agricultural practices, as the land will also be used for blueberry and honey production and sheep grazing, promoting sustainable land use.
