New Manufacturing Hub Established in Rolla, Missouri
The Protoplex in Rolla aims to revitalize manufacturing in rural Missouri, providing resources for innovation and workforce development. Partners include Missouri S&T, local community colleges, and established companies like Caterpillar and Boeing.

The Protoplex, a 117,000-square-foot facility in Rolla, Missouri, is designed to support local manufacturing initiatives and workforce training. With over $1 million in equipment from Solvus Global and partnerships with Missouri University of Science and Technology, the space serves as a testing ground for new manufacturing processes.
The facility aims to train engineers and technicians through collaboration with East Central College and St. Charles Community College. It houses multiple companies, including Caterpillar and Boeing, and offers real-world problem-solving opportunities for students.
Despite inherent risks in new ventures, the Protoplex has secured partnerships and contracts, including with the U.S. Department of Defense, indicating strong potential for local economic development.
