New Year Honours Recognize Contributions in South West UK Across Defence and Sustainability Sectors
Individuals in the South West UK have been recognized in the New Year Honours list for their significant contributions to defense and sustainability, with Simon Boyd receiving an OBE for his leadership at REIDsteel, which saw substantial growth. Other honorees include Sarah Williams-Gardener for her work in financial services, Andrew McNaughton for national infrastructure, and Frances Wall for her contributions to geoscience, alongside notable figures in defense.

Individuals in the South West UK have been honored in the New Year Honours list for their contributions to various sectors, including defense and sustainability. Simon Boyd, managing director of Dorset-based REIDsteel, received an OBE for his services to British steel manufacturing.
Under his leadership, REIDsteel's turnover increased from £30 million to £250 million. Sarah Williams-Gardener, former chair of the Western Gateway Partnership, was awarded an OBE for her work in developing the UK financial services ecosystem.
Andrew McNaughton of AWE received a CBE for national infrastructure contributions, while Frances Wall from the University of Exeter was recognized for her services to geoscience. Notable figures in defense, including Ian King and James Fogg, also received honors for their work in transport and defense sectors.
