New Zealand Defence Force to Trial Kiwi-Made Drones from Syos Aerospace
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) will trial advanced uncrewed systems from Syos Aerospace to enhance military capabilities and support local industry. Defence Minister Judith Collins announced the acquisition of various drones, including the SG400 Uncrewed Ground Vehicle and SM300 Uncrewed Surface Vessel, to be delivered in the coming months.
The Army and Navy will conduct operational trials in scenarios such as supply transport and maritime patrols. This initiative aligns with the Defence Industry Strategy, promoting partnerships with local firms like Sysdoc for training and Hirtenberger Defence Technology for system integration, aimed at reducing supply chain risks.
