NewCleo Plans to Reintroduce Safe Nuclear Energy in Italy by 2032
NewCleo, founded by Stefano Buono, aims to produce fourth-generation nuclear reactors, targeting over 100 installations. The company is partnering with Oklo to recycle nuclear waste into fuel, addressing a projected 400% increase in nuclear electricity demand in the U.S. over the next 24 years.

NewCleo is seeking to establish over 100 fourth-generation nuclear reactors, targeting the U.S. market via a merger with NewHold Investment Corp III. The demand for nuclear energy is projected to rise significantly, especially in the context of the ongoing energy crisis and rising costs.
NewCleo aims to produce reactors capable of 27 gigawatts of electric installations, with plans to recycle nuclear waste for energy production, a strategy reinforced by the U.S. government’s interest in reducing costs of fissile materials. The company is also addressing stringent regulatory environments in Italy, advocating for an independent regulatory body. The goal is to prepare for operational reactors by 2032, contingent on regulatory approvals in various countries, while highlighting competition with existing players like Nuclitalia for technology selection.
