NIA Arrests Five Suspects in Bishnupur Mortar Blast Case in Manipur
The National Investigation Agency has arrested five members of the United Kuki National Liberation Army linked to a mortar blast in Bishnupur, resulting in two child fatalities. The arrests follow public outcry and ongoing protests for justice in the region.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended five suspects tied to the April 7 mortar blast in Bishnupur, Manipur, which killed two children. All arrested individuals are members of the United Kuki National Liberation Army (UKNLA), not included in the Suspension of Operations agreement with the government.
The NIA and the state government are actively coordinating during the investigation. Additionally, a confrontation occurred in Thinungei between locals and Assam Rifles personnel, who were mistaken for illegal arms carriers, resulting in injuries and the temporary seizure of firearms. Protests for justice regarding the blast victims are ongoing, indicating heightened tension in the area.
