The Niger State Government is enhancing its urban renewal efforts with the ongoing construction of a 5-star hotel in Minna, crucial for attracting investment. Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago reported significant progress in housing initiatives, including the construction of 10,000 units aimed at low-income earners across 25 local government areas.
Additionally, a resettlement project for internally displaced persons (IDPs) has been initiated, with plans to build modern homes and improve local infrastructure. The state has collaborated with the UNDP for new settlements and has allocated substantial land for agricultural and housing integration.
A partnership with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria is facilitating financing for over 700 housing units, while a sinking fund addresses existing debts. The government has also supported the Nigerian Army by allocating land for housing development for retired personnel.
