Nigeria Allocates N3.154 Trillion to Defence Ministry for Military Modernization in 2026

In 2026, Nigeria's Ministry of Defence will receive N3.154 trillion to enhance national security and modernize military capabilities. Of this, N2.39 trillion is designated for personnel costs across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Capital expenditure is set at N464.5 billion for purchasing military assets and upgrading infrastructure, while overhead costs total N297 billion. The Nigerian Army will receive N1.5 trillion, with N1.25 trillion for personnel and N16.45 billion for arms.

The Navy is allocated N443.9 billion, focusing on maritime defense, and the Air Force will receive N407.1 billion, including N27.6 billion for helicopters. Other allocations include N83.5 billion for Defence Missions and N68.8 billion for the Defence Intelligence Agency. The Nigerian Defence Academy and Command and Staff College are budgeted N40.4 billion and N35.9 billion, respectively, for training and leadership development.
