Nigeria Enhances $20 Billion Gas Pipeline Talks with Europe
The Federal Government of Nigeria has intensified discussions on a proposed $20 billion gas pipeline to deliver natural gas to Europe. The pipeline aims to transport up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Nigeria through Chad and Libya to Sicily, Italy. Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo emphasized the project's potential to strengthen energy security and attract investment, supported by recent reforms in the petroleum sector. The initiative is expected to create jobs and enhance Nigeria's role in the global energy market.

Nigeria's Federal Government is advancing discussions on a $20 billion transcontinental gas pipeline intended to supply natural gas to European markets. The pipeline is designed to transport 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Nigeria's southern reserves through Chad and Libya, reaching Sicily, Italy, before entering the European market.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, highlighted the project’s potential for economic growth and energy security, backed by reforms like the Petroleum Industry Act. NNPC Limited's Executive Vice President, Olalekan Ogunleye, reaffirmed commitment to attracting investment in the gas sector.
The project, led by Netoil Inc., is viewed as commercially viable and strategically important for Europe. The pipeline is still in early development and will undergo detailed evaluations.
