Nigeria Establishes Procurement Center of Excellence in Kano
The Nigerian government is launching a Procurement Center of Excellence at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College in Kano. This initiative aims to enhance the training of procurement officers within public institutions, contributing to improved compliance and integrity in procurement processes.

The Federal Government of Nigeria will establish a Procurement Center of Excellence at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, Kano, to improve training for procurement officers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) is implementing this initiative alongside ongoing discussions with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).
The program is designed to convert naval logistics officers into proficient procurement professionals, aligning with the reform agenda that includes reviewing the Public Procurement Act 2007 and enhancing transparency through digital tools. The Chief of Logistics of the Nigerian Navy highlighted the critical role of procurement in national security, stating that this program aims to ensure military officers are equipped to meet procurement standards. Emphasizing accountability, he noted that public procurement is central to government expenditure and economic development.
