Nigeria Proposes $20 Billion Transcontinental Gas Pipeline to Europe
The Nigerian government is enhancing discussions on a $20 billion transcontinental gas pipeline aimed at delivering natural gas to European markets. The pipeline will transport up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Nigeria through Chad and Libya to Sicily, Italy. Key stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and NNPC executives, expressed optimism about attracting investments and highlighted the project's potential to enhance energy security and economic value.

The Nigerian government is advancing discussions on a proposed $20 billion transcontinental gas pipeline intended to transport up to 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Nigeria to Europe. The pipeline will route gas from Nigeria's southern reserves through Chad and Libya, extending subsea to Sicily, Italy.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, emphasized the project's capacity to attract investments, supported by the Petroleum Industry Act. NNPC Limited executives affirmed policy alignment and readiness to create investment opportunities. The project is led by a consortium of global players and aims to redefine Nigeria's role in the global energy market while strengthening ties with Europe.
