Nigerian Army Begins Construction of Training Depot in Ebonyi State
The Nigerian Army has begun constructing a training depot in Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State, as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at enhancing national security and training capacity. The ceremony, officiated by Governor Dr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, highlighted the depot's potential to increase recruitment opportunities for local youths and improve military infrastructure distribution. This facility marks the third training depot for the Army, joining those in Zaria and Osogbo, as part of efforts to address security challenges and foster regional development.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 13, 2026, officiated by Ebonyi State Governor Dr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. He emphasized that the facility would boost recruitment opportunities for youths in the South-East region.
Major General Oluremi Fadairo, representing the Chief of Army Staff, highlighted the depot's role in equitable military infrastructure distribution and urged local youths to participate actively in recruitment. The establishment of this depot brings the total number of Nigerian Army training depots to three, including Zaria and Osogbo, reinforcing the Army's commitment to addressing security challenges and fostering development.
