Nigerian Army Confirms Surrender of 80 Militants in Cross River State
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the voluntary surrender of 80 militants in Cross River State as part of the state government's amnesty programme. The surrender, which took place during Operation OKWOK, involved fighters from two camps and included the handover of various arms and military equipment. Brig.-Gen. Paul Alimikhena described the event as a significant confidence-building milestone and highlighted ongoing efforts for the reintegration of the militants.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the voluntary surrender of 80 militants in Cross River State under the state government's amnesty programme. The surrender occurred early Friday at Atimbo Rear Area during Operation OKWOK in Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
The militants emerged from two camps, with 39 fighters led by ThankGod Ebikontei and 41 fighters led by John Isaac. Assorted arms and military equipment, including rifles and speed boats, were also surrendered.
The 13 Brigade's Commander, Brig.-Gen. Paul Alimikhena, noted this as a confidence-building milestone and emphasized ongoing support for reintegration efforts. The surrendered militants were handed over to the Cross River State Government's Rapid Response Team for profiling.
