On April 3, 2026, troops from the 145 Battalion (Rear) of the Nigerian Army uncovered and neutralized four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Umuchima forest, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Abia State. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence from the Brigade Intelligence Regiment.
The IEDs were found at multiple strategic locations, indicating an effort to restrict troop movement and protect suspected insurgent hideouts. The 14 Brigade Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was deployed, safely detonating the devices and recovering components for technical analysis. This operation is expected to bolster ongoing intelligence efforts and enhance understanding of insurgent operational tactics.
