Nigerian Army Reports Gains Against Banditry in North West Under Major General Ajose
The Nigerian Army, under Major General Ibikunle Ajose, reported significant progress against banditry in North West Nigeria, highlighting the rescue of 1,023 kidnapped victims and the recovery of numerous weapons and stolen livestock in 2025. These operations have bolstered security and economic confidence in the region, with Ajose attributing the successes to troop dedication and support from military leadership. The recent West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration underscored the collaboration between the military and the Sokoto State Government for sustained peace and development.

The Nigerian Army has achieved significant successes in the fight against banditry in North West Nigeria in 2025, according to Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division. During the West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration, he reported the rescue of 1,023 kidnapped victims, recovery of 189 AK-47 rifles, 4,338 rounds of ammunition, and 305 motorcycles.
The operations also led to the recovery of 4,123 stolen livestock and neutralizing several high-profile bandit leaders. These efforts have improved security and economic confidence in the region. Ajose credited the achievements to troop dedication and support from Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. The ceremony included cultural performances and emphasized collaboration between the military and the Sokoto State Government for peace and development.
