Retired Major General Danjuma Hamisu Ali-Keffi urged an investigation into the release of 48 terrorism financing suspects, including a top Boko Haram leader, citing national security concerns. He alleged the National Assembly failed to probe due to interference from a former Army chief.
The suspects were arrested by Operation Service Wide (OSW) for financing terrorism, with claims that funds for counterterrorism were misappropriated by military and government officials. Ali-Keffi questioned the release of Hima Abubakar, linked to a $600 million offshore account.
He also raised concerns about the release of Alhaji Saidu Ahmed, a Boko Haram leader, despite evidence against him. He called for transparency regarding counterterrorism funds and investigations into possible fund diversion.
