Nigerian Troops Repel Terrorist Attacks in Adamawa and Borno States
Nigerian troops from Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled terrorist attacks on January 16, 2026, in Adamawa and Borno States, with no losses reported among their ranks. In Adamawa, an attempted assault on a patrol base was thwarted, while in Borno, a large-scale attack on Forward Operating Base Azir was defeated with air support, resulting in significant casualties for the attackers and the recovery of numerous weapons. Follow-up operations by the Nigerian Airforce led to further neutralizations of fleeing terrorists.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled attacks on January 16, 2026, in Adamawa and Borno States. In Adamawa, terrorists attempted to overrun a patrol base at Sabon Gari but were defeated with no losses to troops.
In Borno, a large-scale attack on Forward Operating Base Azir was also repelled with air support, resulting in heavy casualties for the attackers. Numerous weapons and ammunition were recovered.
