Troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled attacks on January 16, 2026, in Adamawa and Borno States. In Adamawa, terrorists attempted to overrun a patrol base at Sabon Gari but were defeated with no losses to troops.

In Borno, a large-scale attack on Forward Operating Base Azir was also repelled with air support, resulting in heavy casualties for the attackers. Numerous weapons and ammunition were recovered. Follow-up operations tracked fleeing terrorists, leading to further neutralizations by Nigerian Airforce platforms.
