Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources will speak at AEW 2026, emphasizing gas commercialization and infrastructure. The country is set to launch its 2026 oil licensing round in Q3 2026 to maintain investment momentum in its oil sector.

Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, will participate in African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 in Cape Town from October 12 to 16, focusing on gas sector investment and infrastructure development. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company reported oil production at 1.71 million barrels per day from April 2025 to April 2026, the highest in five years.
The government plans to launch the 2026 oil licensing round in Q3 2026, following a successful 2025 round, aiming to sustain investor interest. Domestic initiatives include the $1.2 billion Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben pipeline rehabilitation and promoting compressed natural gas. This strategic focus on gas commercialization and infrastructure is essential for Nigeria's economic growth and energy security.
