President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the deployment of 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits across Nigeria to address rising transportation costs linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The initiative, managed by the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), aims to enhance alternative energy options.

The government is developing infrastructure for CNG refueling and electric vehicle charging, with 77 refilling stations in various stages of development. The initiative specifically targets northern transportation corridors and aims to support local assembly of CNG and electric vehicles, alongside solar-powered charging stations.
