Nitrotol Opens Estonia's First Munitions Plant in Nearly 100 Years at Ämari Defense Industry Park
Nitrotol has inaugurated Estonia's first munitions plant in nearly a century at the Ämari defense industry park, enhancing the country's capacity to produce military explosives. The facility, attended by Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur, aims to bolster Estonia's defense capabilities, stimulate the economy, and create jobs, with plans for a new production site in Ermistu by 2027.

Nitrotol has officially opened an explosives plant at the Ämari defense industry park, located at Ämari Air Base near Tallinn, marking the first munitions production in Estonia in nearly a century. Previously, Nitrotol produced military explosives, including mines, since 2019, but was unable to complete the process within Estonia due to legal restrictions.
The opening was attended by Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur, who stated that this development enhances Estonia's ability to produce and export military materials. Nitrotol's products are utilized by the Estonian Defense Forces and other NATO allies.
The establishment of the plant is expected to strengthen Estonia's defense capabilities, boost the national economy, increase exports, and create new jobs. Nitrotol plans to begin production at a new facility in the Ermistu park near Pärnu by 2027.
