Nomagic Attracts Google AI Expert, Signaling Shift in European Tech Landscape
Polish start-up Nomagic has recruited Markus Wulfmeier from Google DeepMind, emphasizing Poland's growing role in advanced technology. This move reflects a broader trend of talent retention in Europe as geopolitical conditions shift.

Markus Wulfmeier, a former Google DeepMind researcher, has joined Polish start-up Nomagic to lead research on Visual-Language-Action models. This recruitment signifies Poland's emergence as a hub for advanced technology, leveraging its pool of 850,000 IT specialists.
The move aligns with a reversal of talent migration patterns, as experts from the U.S. seek opportunities in Europe due to rising living costs and visa uncertainties. However, Europe faces challenges, with 40% of Deep Tech founders still relocating to the U.S. for funding. Brussels' European Tech Champions Initiative 2 aims to unlock €80 billion in private investments to support the Deep Tech sector, which is essential for fostering innovation and sustainability in robotics and biotechnology.
