Nomura Real Estate and Clean Energy Connect Launch 550 Solar Projects in Japan
Nomura Real Estate and Clean Energy Connect are developing approximately 550 small-scale solar power plants in Japan under corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs). This initiative will provide about 52.5 million kWh of electricity annually, meeting nearly 40% of Nomura's electricity needs while reducing reliance on government subsidies.
The project aligns with Nomura's carbon neutrality strategy, aiming to cut electricity-related emissions by 60% by 2030. Each site will have emergency power outlets for local residents during disasters. This collaboration reflects a growing trend in Japan toward corporate PPAs as companies pursue stable renewable energy sources amidst evolving policies favoring market-driven mechanisms.
