Nordic Semiconductor Launches nRF54LM20B with Axon NPU for Enhanced IoT Applications
The nRF54LM20B SoC features an integrated Axon NPU, providing significant performance gains for edge AI in IoT. This advancement supports real-time applications in various sectors, enhancing battery efficiency and reducing reliance on cloud processing.

Nordic Semiconductor's nRF54LM20B integrates an Axon Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with a 128 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor, significantly improving on-device AI inference capabilities. The NPU achieves up to 15 times faster model inference than traditional CPU processing, with up to 7 times higher performance and 8 times better energy efficiency compared to competing solutions.
The SoC includes 2 MB of non-volatile memory and 512 kB of RAM, supporting advanced AI models. Notable features include a fourth-generation ultra-low-power 2.4 GHz radio and multiple connectivity options such as Bluetooth LE and Zigbee, making it suitable for smart sensors, industrial automation, and wearables. This development is set to enhance local processing and reduce latency for real-time IoT applications.
