Norinco Showcases OW5-A50 Laser Weapon System at DIMDEX 2026 in Oman
Norinco showcased its OW5-A50 laser weapon system, designed for countering unmanned aerial vehicles, at the DIMDEX 2026 exhibition in Oman. This 50 kW system, which underwent testing at Airshow China in November 2024, is notable for being displayed in Oman, the only country outside China to host it. The Norinco manager clarified that images of a similar system circulating in Oman were not theirs but were related to CETC's JN1199 jamming system.

Norinco displayed its OW5-A50 laser directed energy weapon designed for counter-unmanned aerial vehicles at the DIMDEX 2026 exhibition in Oman from January 19 to 22, 2026. The system had previously undergone a firing test at Airshow China in November 2024.
Oman is the only country outside China to host the system. The Norinco manager noted that images of a similar system circulating in Oman were not Norinco’s but resembled CETC's JN1199 jamming system. The A50's '50' indicates a 50 kW capacity, comparable to the UK's DragonFire system, which received a GBP316 million contract for Royal Navy integration in November 2025.
