North Sea Port Completes Risk Analysis for LNG, Hydrogen, Methanol, and Ammonia Bunkering
North Sea Port has completed a risk analysis confirming safe bunkering of LNG, hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia across its ports. The study assessed all berths and methods, including ship-to-ship and truck bunkering for both international and inland vessels. It examined navigational risks and surrounding infrastructure. Controlled trial operations will follow, reviewed by emergency services, to demonstrate safe handling of these alternative fuels.

North Sea Port has confirmed through an independent risk analysis that LNG, hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia can be safely bunkered throughout its area, including Vlissingen, Terneuzen, and Ghent. The analysis covered all berths and evaluated bunkering methods for international and inland vessels, addressing navigational risks and infrastructure factors. Following this assessment, controlled trial operations will begin, with oversight from emergency services to ensure safe handling of these fuels during the testing phase.
