Northern Graphite plans to restart production at the Okanjande mine in Namibia by the end of 2025 to supply a $200 million anode materials factory in Saudi Arabia, in partnership with Al Obeikan. The mine, previously inactive since 2018, will provide 50,000 tons of graphite concentrate annually.

Northern Graphite will invest $35 million to upgrade infrastructure and create 200 to 300 local jobs. The decision to build the factory in Saudi Arabia is due to better infrastructure for electricity and water, with the plant requiring significantly more resources than available in Namibia. The Yanbu factory aims to supply markets in Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
